BIO

Lance was born to British citizens Ronald VJ and Patricia Mountain, in Pasadena,
CA in June of 1964. His love of skateboarding began when friend Enrique Esparza
gave Lance his used board in 1975. Lance quickly updated from clay wheels to
urethane wheels and got his hands on his first Skateboard Magazine which proved
to be highly influential. Lance skated down the hill he lived on, He tried handstands
and 360s and any other trick he saw on the magazine pages. The early photos of
Tony Alva, Jay Adams and Stacy Peralta caused Lance and his friends to search
out backyard pools, build backyard halfpipes and eventually venture to skateparks.
From 1976 to 1980 Montebello, Glendora, Upland, Lakewood, Marina, and then
localized, work and skate for “Skate City” Whittier Team, His love of creative art
started with his Dad and grew working with Neil Blender on Lump Skatecity’s zine.
Met and skated with many as we entered A.S.P.O. contests between skateparks in
So Cal. After 2 years Lance joined the 1980 Variflex Team as an amateur and toured
the USA with Steve Hirsch, Eric Grisham, Freddie DeSota Patti Hoffman and Allen Losi.

Skateboarding took a turn as the parks closed and industry just couldn’t
support the skaters. Lots of great pros had to move on, and the kids young enough
turned pro and filled the gap. Lance one of those fortunate few having had a backyard
ramp when the industry with Thrasher was looking for content to promote
and grow skateboarding, Stacy Peralta had never sponsored a rider who was pro
on another team, Life changing opportunity at this time Lance was recruited to work
and skate for Powell Peralta in 1983 as skateboarding started to make a comeback.
without a model until the Bones Brigade Video Show came out and the request came in.

Lance got married to Yvette and had a son Lance Ronald Cyril. Riding for
Powell Peralta for 9 years, working with Stacy and C.R. Stecyk, Being in the first
videos, touring the world, Winning a pool contest at the notorious Upland Combi,
A ramp contest in Lake Tahoe, and a street contest in Munster Germany. Ad a trick,
longest board slide, High air and other contest wins placing in the top 5 for many years,
were very import to have a voice to say the main purpose of a pro is to make others
fall in love with Skateboarding and believe the highest form is to think how to move it
change it and make it your own.
The Skateboard Industry had gone through a major change once again.
At that time in 1991 Lance started The FIRM, running it out of his house for nine
years and another six at Blitz Distribution. He got a chance to sponsor some of
the greatest skaters of all time including: Ray Barbee, Joe Gruber, Keith Gruber,
Weston Correa, James Qua, Pat Brennen, Salman Agah, Matt Beach, Frank Gerwer,
Bob Burnquist, Rodrigo TX, Javier Sarmiento, John White, Bennie, Jared Herman,
Alexis Sablone, Mike Chin, Jani Laitiala, Billy Marks, Wieger, Stiggy, Tom Jones,

Skating is as it has always been, an excuse to be immature or at least try to keep
he feeling skateboarding gave you when we started.
Lance’s hope and goal is to walk with the Lord Jesus Christ
encourage and inspire others as he was.
